KIU, Western Campus – Prof. Kolawole Adisa Olonade from the Civil Engineering Department of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS), has been invited to a research sharing visit at London South Bank University (LSBU).

The invitation was communicated to Prof. Olonade through a letter written to him by James Peng, the School Director of Operations, School of the Built Environment and Architecture.

“As Director of Operations for the School of the Built Environment and Architecture, I have great pleasure in inviting you to the University to share research as part of the joint research networking project,” reads the letter in part.

Prof. Olonade will be presenting his research titled, “Developing Modular Interlocking Bricks and Blocks With the Entire Waste Reuse Model in Nigeria and United Kingdom,” at the UK University, which will take place between September 16 to 23.

During the visit, Prof. Olonade will also be partaking in discussions and workshops with LSBU colleagues, be given a tour of the university facilities and also listen to presentations of staff from within the School of the Built Environment and Architecture.

Reacting to the invitation, Prof. Olonade said he was excited about it and stressed every invitation he makes, he will make it as an ambassador of KIU.

“During this visit, I am representing KIU and every presentation I make, I will introduce my university as KIU,” he remarked.

“Through this, we can strengthen collaborations between KIU and other international universities in terms of research and it gives visibility to KIU and knowing what this university is about,” he added.

Dr. Olonade is a renowned researcher and his research titled “Cassava Concrete for Low-Cost Housing Delivery” was selected as one of the Top 4 finalists under the ShelterTech category for the Africa Housing Forum Innovation Awards 2022,
