Diploma Nursing and Midwifery Students at KIU Register 100% Pass Rate in 2023 UNMEB Exams

KIU, Western Campus – Nursing and Midwifery Diploma students at KIU Western Campus have registered a 100% pass rate in the December 2023 Uganda Nurses and Midwives Examinations Board (UNMEB) exams, which were released yesterday.

Their colleagues who were pursuing a Certificate in Nursing and Midwifery also excelled, registering a 98% pass rate. Up to 825 nursing and midwifery students sat for the exams.

The Dean of the School of Nursing Sciences Sr. Alice Twinamatsiko congratulated the students and their teachers on their performance.

“I congratulate all the students for having passed well and also thank my dear teachers for putting (their) efforts towards the success, not forgetting parents and guardians, and the administration,” she said.

She explained that she felt good because the students had passed, though she was quick to add that this performance was expected but also said they had hoped to get 100% pass rate for the Certificate students.

“As the Dean, School of Nursing, I feel great because my students have made it among the best in the country. The students are excited because they expected it since the teachers had followed the curriculum and gave students the right content,” Ms. Twinamatsiko reiterated.

The UNMEB exams effectively measure expected quality of nurses and midwives based on curriculum objectives to determine whether they are qualified to work in hospitals.
