Rebecca Nabejja is currently the Social Media Manager at Kampala International University, Uganda’s leading private university in Uganda.
She is responsible for curating the brands social channels. She monitors, moderates and responds to audience comments whilst managing social media partnerships with other brands; and creating and/or posting shareable videos and images. She possesses top-notch communication and writing skills.
Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communication (Journalism Major) with a 4.05CGPA from Uganda Christian University, Main Campus, Mukono,Uganda.
During her stay at the university, she carried out research “Examining the Effect of Social Media Tax on Social Media Usage among Students of Mass Communication at Uganda Christian University”: A Dissertation Submitted to the Department of Journalism And Media Studies, Uganda Christian University in Partial Fulfilment of the Requirements for the Award of Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication.
In 2018, Rebecca worked as an Administrative Intern with KYUSA Uganda, a nonprofit in Kampala-Uganda that empowers out of school youth in urban slums to turn their passions into sustainable careers. Whilst there, she gained employable and entrepreneurial skills.
In 2019, she worked as a Social Media Intern with PAKA Sports TV, the first television channel of its kind in Uganda totally focused on being a hub for Ugandan sports. Whilst there, she worked on creating content in form of text, images, videos, and a social media/communications plan for the social platforms of the station.
Her skills include the ability to ably and proficiently use social media, the ability to manage and implement social media campaigns, knowledge of mobile editing software, proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint, excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer and internet skills, the ability to translate complex text into easily readable material
Rebecca holds a Media Challenge Fellowship Program Certificate of Achievement awarded by The Media Challenge Initiative and its partners in recognition for outstanding participation and achievement in the Media Challenge Fellowship Program - Inaugural Class of 2018, a Certificate of Excellence awarded by The Media Challenge Initiative for emerging as the 1st runners Up News Anchor (English Category) in the Inter-University Media Challenge 2018, and a Certificate of Recognition awarded by The Media Challenge Initiative for the outstanding performance as a University Coordinator in the Inter-University Media Challenge 2018.
She has received awards in recognition of her leadership, including a Certificate of Appreciation for the outstanding service rendered to the Uganda Christian University Students’ Guild as Deputy Minister of Information for the year 2017/2018, and a BAYC Certificate of Appreciation for voluntary service in organizing and running the Bugolobi Annual Youth Conference (BAYC) within the period of 2015-2017.
Rebecca also holds a Certificate of Completion awarded by United Nations Human Rights Office of the High Commissioner and John Sentamu Institute for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law for short course within the period of 21st Aug to 1st Sept 2017.
She is passionate about journalism and communication, and therefore her sole career objective is to commit to a professional career where she can utilize her field of study and work experience, share, and at the same time cultivate her humble knowledge in order to expand her understanding of the discipline that she has chosen. It is also to grow intellectually, morally and emotionally in the working environment.
In her free time, she likes to network and create new friendships.
