Dr. Charlie Cherop C.C is a Sabiny by tribe, from Bukwo district, Eastern Uganda, a teacher and administrator by profession. He worked as an assistant district commissioner in Kampala District (1972) and a teacher in different secondary schools in Uganda and Kenya (1973-1981), and thereafter lectured in different primary teachers’ colleges and universities in the same countries (1982-to date). He briefly worked as the chairperson district service commission Bukwo district from 2007 to 2011. His attempt to go to parliament in 1980 (Kapchorwa) and 2016( Bukwo) was not successful.
Cherop as Born on 27th July, 1945/ Suam, Bukwo District, he lives in Torokyo village, Kapkweno Parish, Suam Sub-County. He is Known for Being a teacher in secondary schools, and a lecturer in Primary Teachers’ Colleges and KIU University, a DSC Chairman, a politician, and a marketer. Education institutions attended are Amanag PS (1954-1969), Sebei Junior SS (1962-1963), Kiira College S.S (1964 1967), Nabumli High School (A-level 1968-1969), Makerere University-B.A (1970-1972), PGDE (1974-1975), CCA (2012)-IUIU MPA (2008-2010) and KIU PhD (2016-2020).
He was an Administrator (ADC)-Kampala district (1972), Graduate Teacher-Mbale SS (1973-1977), Sebei SS (1978-1980) and Kapngetuny SS (1981): Lecturer-Shanzu, Moi and Mosoriot Teachers Colleges (Kenya)-1982-2002; and lecturer Makerere University (2012) and KIU (2013-to date), where he is also a Marketing Officer Karamoja/Sebei region (12 districts). He also worked as a chairperson DSC Bukwo district (2007-2011). Charlie Cherop married to Cherop Imelda Yapmungusho in 1974 and they have several childrens among which include Chelangat Everlyne, Chemtai Doris, Cherui Jimmy, Cheruto Priscilla, Kibet Geoffrey and Chesang Brenda.
