Fagbolu Olutola Olaide, PhD is a senior lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at the School of Mathematics and Computing at Kampala International University. His roles include; teaching students the prescribed courses, supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students, developing and continually improving the curricula of courses taught, researching and publishing academic articles and / or books in areas of specialization, advising students and colleagues on appropriate subject matters consistent with the acquired academic background and training, developing marking schemes for courses taught, carrying out progressive assessments and mark examinations scripts of courses taught setting, invigilating and processing university examinations, attending departmental meetings and faculty board meetings and discuss matters as per the agenda and performing any other duties as may be assigned by relevant University authorities.
He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Computer Science and a Master of Technology in Computer Science both of which he attained from Federal University of Technology, Akure. Ondo State, he also has a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science (Second Class Honor) from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State. Additionally, he has experience teaching in various prestigious institutions at different levels including Polytechnics and universities. His areas of specialization include; Teaching of students in the act of programming computers with Pascal, Basic, C, C++, JAVA, software development, system analysis and design, networking, system and internet technologies, data structure, algorithms, research methodology, computer architecture, survey of programming languages, software engineering and human-computer interface, among others.
He has published in various local and international journals among which are; International Journal of Wireless Communication, Networking and Mobile Computing, American Journal of Computation, Communication and Control, Journal of Nigerian Association of Mathematical Physics, Nigeria, International Journal of ICT and Management, Ghana, International Journal of Innovative Science, Engineering and Technology, India and International Journal of Innovative Science, Engineering & Technology, India, to mention but a few. Besides that, he has various research and commissioned projects that he has worked on and among these are; the Smart Luganda Language Translator where he was the Principal Research Investigator for National Science, Technology and Innovation Uganda and the Development of Web-enabled Yorùbá Phrasebooks, which was his PhD. Computer Science thesis, among others.
Olutola has also attended and facilitated several conferences both locally and internationally some of which include; the Pan African Conference on Science, Computing and Telecommunications (PACT) 2019 at University of Eswatini (Swaziland), the 8th Annual Forum of the East African Higher Education Quality Assurance Network and Inter-University Council for East Africa, Kigali (Rwanda) and the 7th International Conference on National Language Processing, Dubai (UAE) to mention but a few.
Also, he has supervised numerous post-graduate level students' research theses and dissertations and is a member of the prestigious Nigeria Computer Society since 2011.
With such a remarkable background in academia and the experience that he has amassed, Olutola is in the right position to train and shape the bright minds of the future here at Kampala International University where we continue to explore the heights!
