Dr. Suzan Luyiga has a PhD. Zoology-Limnology from Makerere University- 2008 and a MSc. Environmental Science and Technology specializing in Limnology and Wetland Ecosystems obtained in 1999 from UNESCO–IHE, Institute for Water Education, Delft, The Netherlands.
Dr. Luyiga also has an International Post-Graduate Diploma in Limnology from Austrian Academy of Sciences- 1998 and a Bachelor of Science Degree (Botany and Zoology) from Makerere University in 1997.
She is employed as a lecturer and Coordinator of Research & Innovations in the Department of Biological & Environmental Sciences, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) at Kampala International University (KIU).
She also works as the Limnologist/Aquatic environmentalist at LimnoConsult (U) Ltd where she does Local and Regional Consultancies in aquatic environmental ecology and Water quality analysis and assessment- since 2009.
Between 2001 to 2008, Dr. Luyiga was a part time lecturer at Makerere University, Faculty of Science, Department of Zoology, and she has also been an Aquatic ecologist Researcher in the same department, from 1997 to 2015.
She is a member of the International Water Association (IWA) since 2002, and a member of the Eastern Africa Water Association (EAWA).

She has also written three journals on water and environment science and one of them is; Onuorah M., M. Azhar and S. Luyiga (2019). Rwandan Journal of Engineering, Science, Technology and Environment 2(1).
Dr. Luyiga has as well participated in nine Community based assignments and has supervised four research projects, one of which has been published.
