Mrs Prisca Adaeze Nenger – (Communications Officer)
Prisca Adaeze Nenger, is a Nigerian national working with Kampala International University (KIU) in Uganda as a Communications Officer in the Department of Marketing and Public Relations.
Prisca, is responsible for writing, editing, uploading and managing content on the University’s website and occasionally the social media platforms. She is also the copy editor for KIU Giraffe Times; the University’s newspaper publication. In 2017, Prisca was deployed as a Communications Officer to KIU Dar es Salaam, Tanzania Campus (KIUT), before she was transferred to the main campus in Kampala, Uganda.
Before joining Kampala International University (KIU), Mrs Nenger taught Public Relations and Media Practice as well as Public Relations and Crisis Management in the School of Media Technology, LivingStone International University (LIU), Mbale, Uganda, as a part-time lecturer from 2016-2017.
As a budding journalist Prisca’s relentless effort in sharpening her professional skills has earned her several journalistic and editorial positions where she has continued to work as a team member on various editorial projects, starting from 2005 to date. Having started out in her career as a student journalist in 2005 and her editorial journey in 2009, Prisca, has garnered professional experience for over 14 years in the field of Journalism and Communications (Public Relations), as a writer, as well as an editor; ranging from her previous engagements and/or employments in Nigeria, Tanzania and currently in Uganda respectively.
While in Nigeria, Prisca worked with the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), as a Media Monitoring Officer (from 2011 to 2012, where she observed her National Youth Service as a corps member). In the same period of time, she was a Features & Deputy Editor, for the Editorial Board, of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Osun State, Nigeria. She has also worked as a Para-Legal Officer for Legal Digest in Lagos, Nigeria.
In 2010, she worked as the Associate Editor for Sentinel Newspaper & Magazine, (Publications of the Association of Print Oriented Students), at Federal Polytechnic, in Oko, Anambra State, Nigeria, and in 2009, she was the Secretary-General for the same Association. Between 2005 to 2009, Prisca, was a Reporter and Women Editor for Press Flash Magazine (A publication of Press Club Int’l), Federal Polytechnic, in Oko, Anambra State, Nigeria.
Owing to her dedication to service, Mrs Nenger has been recognized by various stakeholders whom she has successfully worked with during the execution of various projects. In 2019, she received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Vice-chancellor KIU; for significant contribution towards the successful organization of the 9th Uganda Vice Chancellors’ Forum (UVCF) Conference at Kampala International University (KIU), and in 2012, during her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), in Nigeria, she was recognized by the Chairman NYSC Osun State Governing Board where she was awarded a Commendation Certificate for Executing a Community Development Project in Schools for the Handicapped.
Prisca, holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) Mass Communication from Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State Nigeria, a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Media and Communication with focus on Digital Media from the School of Media Communication, Pan-Atlantic University (SMC-PAU), Lagos, Nigeria, a Professional Post Graduate Diploma in Customer Relationship Management from the Institute of Customer Relationship Management (ICRM), also in Lagos, Nigeria. She is also pursuing her Master's Degree in Journalism and Media Studies from Uganda Christian University, in view of July 2020.
She is a member of the East African Communication Association (EACA), a certified Customer Service Professional cum Customer Relationship Manager, as well an Associate Member of the Institute of Customer Relationship Management (ICRM), a Graduate Member of Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), after obtaining a Proficiency Certificate in Management from the same institution, having completed the course of study and passed the prescribed examinations.
Prisca’s love for humanity has endeared her to engaging in academic research, peer-learning, educating young minds, problem-solving, travelling, meeting people, charity (putting smile on the faces of the needy and the vulnerable) and athletics, at her leisure.
