SYLVIA BIRUNGI is an Assistant Lecturer at the Kampala International University (KIU). Prior to that, she served for one year as a teacher at Busoga Secondary School in Jinja, and for two years as a Counselor at the UWESO-Migyera Training Institute in Nakasongola.
Birungi holds a Master of Arts In Public Administration and Management (MPA) which she obtained from Kampala International University (KIU) in 2013. She also possesses both a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) and a Bachelor of Arts – Social Sciences (BA SS) which she obtained from Makerere University in 2009 and 2003 respectively. She has participated in a number of trainings including a training on Educational Management Information Systems (EMIS) organised by the International Finance Corporation, and the training on a Certificate in Sports Administration (CSA) organised by the International Olympic Committee.
She has carried out research and published studies including the Decentralisation and Health Service delivery: A case study of Makindye Division – Kampala, and Education and Domestic violence: A case study of Waitambogwe – Mayuge.
Sylvia possesses impeccable skills in Human Resource Structural Management & NGO Experience; Financial, planning and budget management; and Stakeholder / community management which involves networking positively and influentially. She likes to travel, play sports, and volunteer in her free time.
