Alex Busingye is an experienced communications professional with working experience in Africa, Asia, and the USA.
In 2009, Alex enjoyed a brief but eventful role as a communications associate for Russ Consulting, a communications company in Malaysia. At Russ Consulting, Alex’s role was to assist with secretariat duties for the United Nations Global Compact. The experience exposed him to challenges in developing effective communications to have the successful implementation of an organization’s strategy and enhance lasting relations with other parties.
In 2010, Alex worked as a writer for the Voice of America in Washington DC. In addition to writing a series of creative and insightful articles, he leveraged online communication tools and social media to develop and implement marketing strategies for reaching and engaging stakeholders.
After two years of developing his craft as a writer at VOA, Alex sought out to diversify his skillset. He joined the Ameson Foundation, a non-profit dealing in education and cultural exchange in 2012. His role as Lead Program Associate significantly developed his ability to communicate and develop working relationships. Alex was instrumental in recruiting up to 500 candidates for their Ameson Year in China program in 2013.
In 2014, Alex became the Editor-in-Chief at The Bush Chicken, a Liberian Online News outlet. He works to balance hard-core journalistic needs with the organization's promotion. In doing so, he ventured far beyond his core skills and broadened his experience. Admittedly, one of his favorite things to do is to draft great writing for any communications, turning the complex material into stories that audiences love. In effect, Alex laid the foundation for the news outlet to be recognized as the best in the country, as it has won the most national awards for journalistic excellence two years in a row (2017 and 2018).
In June 2016, Alex joined Ducor Sports, a pan-African sports magazine. In his role as author and regional editor, Alex has authored and edited multiple world class stories for the magazine.
In September 2016, Alex returned to his key competency which is Public Relations. He uses his extensive knowledge in Public Relations and Journalism to co-relate the traditional outlook towards public management with the systematic organization and execution of effective communication programs to keep in lieu with present trends hence providing and maintaining non- negotiable high standards and service.
In his current Public Relations roles, Alex is the Public Relations Officer at Kampala International University and his Public Relations Firm has featured clients from Uganda, Liberia, Sudan, Tanzania and Germany. Every Thursday evening, Alex teaches a voluntary writing class to KIU students. Their articles are published in the University’s Giraffe Times Newsletter. Whenever possible Alex also guest lecturers online. Recently, he conducted a lecturer at the Clemson University in South Carolina, USA.
Alex received his Masters of Arts in Public Communication from American University in Washington DC, the PR capital of the world. And received his Bachelor of Arts in Professional Communication from Limkokwing University in Cyberjaya, Malaysia.
