DR. MOUHAMAD MPEZAMIHIGO is the Vice Chancellor of Kampala International University, Uganda. He is also the Chair to Senate at Kampala International University. Prior to that, he served for 10 years as a Lecturer in the Faculty of Science, Departments of Biological Sciences and Environmental Sciences Master of Science Postgraduate Programmes at the Islamic University in Uganda (East Africa).
Mpezamihigo holds a PhD in Horticulture and Landscape from the University of Reading in UK, plus a Masters Degree in Agriculture (Agroforestry) and a Bachelors Degree in Forestry, both from Makerere University in Kampala-Uganda. He also possesses other awards like a Certificate in leadership and governance of higher education under the Uganda National Council for Higher Education/Carnegie New York, the Certificate in leadership and stewardship by the scholarship office of the Islamic development bank, Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the Certificate in Higher Education Management under UNESCO and Uganda Management Training and Advisory Center, Kampala Uganda to mention but a few.
He has been recognised on various accounts for his committed service, and has received awards like the Recognition Award by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) in appreciation of his dedicated service and exemplary contribution to NCHE as Council Member and Chairperson of Finance and Management of Council for the period 2007-2017, and the Education Leadership Award (For Excellence in Education, Leadership and Teaching) under the World Education Congress Global Awards in 2015, Mumbai India.
Mpezamihigo serves on the Islamic University in Uganda Main Scholarship Committee where he chairs the meetings, considers criteria, and also solicits help for needy students from different Ugandan and International Sponsorship Agencies such as the Association of Commonwealth. He also serves on the The Alimiyya Sajjabi Foundation Scholarship Board, and in all his roles in various scholarship boards/committees, has maintained maximum confidentiality impartiality, fairness and justice in the selection process.
He has co-published books titled ‘Factors Affecting Agro-Marketing in Budaka District, Eastern Uganda’ and ‘Exploring Electronic Learning for Distance Education in Uganda, the Case study of the Islamic University in Uganda’. He has also written articles and published in reputable journals like the Journal of Horticultural Science and Biotechnology and the International Journal of Tropical Diseases and Health.
He serves as the Uganda Country Representative and Executive Council Member to ISESCO, and is a Member to the Working Group of the Uganda National Council for Higher Education on Quality Assurance in institutions of Higher Learning. He is a Founder and Board Member on the Board of Trustees Union of Muslim Professionals of Uganda, and a Member to many voluntary and charitable local and national organizations.
