Safari Yonasi is an Assistant Lecturer at Kampala International University (KIU). He holds a Master of Medical Science in Medical Informatics, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Informatics from the University of KwaZalu Natal. He also holds a Bachelor Science in Computer Science from Makerere University.
Prior to joining KIU, Safari worked as an IT consultant with AH Consulting firm, a Teaching Assistant at Makerere University, and an Assistant Lecturer in the IT Department under Health Information Technology of Mbarara University of Science and Technology. He is very passionate about research methods, computer literacy, web systems & technologies, computer graphics, design & analysis of algorithms, and software engineering.
Safari developed an algorithm that automatically detects districts with similar occurrences of Malaria distribution in Uganda using the HMIS data set. He used k-means clustering and Principal Component Analysis as the Machine learning Techniques. He also developed an algorithm to predict Cellular Protein localization sites of Ecoli on an Ecoli minimal dataset using a comparison of different machine learning classification techniques.
