KIU, Western Campus câ¬â The Dean of Student Affairs (DSA) for KIU Western Campus, Maureen Asiimwe, has called for the engagement of community leaders in the fight against COVID-19, especially for the protection of the university students from contracting the virus.
She made this call during the KIU Western Campus COVID-19 taskforce meeting held in the KIU Teaching Hospital boardroom on October 15.
câ¬ÅWe should link up with the local leaders in the communities because people are not compliant with the SOPs yet many of our students stay in these communities,c⬠Asiimwe said.
She also called on the students and staff who use Boda-Boda as a means of transport to always demand that the riders wear a face mask and also sanitize their hands so that they can protect themselves from possible infection.
This call was echoed by the Assistant Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Finance and Administration (ADVC-F&A), Prof. Lydia Emuron, who suggested maintenance of clear communication channels with the community.
câ¬ÅInformation about COVID-19 cases (when they are discovered) should be circulated to everyone. More communication is needed,c⬠Prof. Emuron said.
