Data Science through Go Fair in Africa: A New Generation Internet of Data & Services
KIU is a major partner in the establishment of the Internet of FAIR Data and Services (IFDS). FAIR stands for machine readable data which are Findable, Accessible (under well defined conditions), Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR). IFDS will be a major element changing the future of science as it will make research data findable and reusable. In addition, it will establish a new basis for services, which can be based on machine-readable operations in controlled way. Implementation Networks (IN) are leading the three main efforts of establishing IFDS: GO BUILD, GO CHANGE and GO TRAIN.
The African implementation of the IFDS is taken forward by the GO FAIR IN AFRICA. This Implementation network is chaired by Prof. Venansius Baryamureeba (Uganda) and Prof. Munyaradzi Mawere (Great Zimbabwe University).
KIU partners with this initiative. PhD student Mariam Basajja studies the implement-ability of FAIR as a basis for enhancing interoperability of digital health data, an investigation in collaboration with the Uganda Ministry of Health. A seminar was held in February 2019 on FAIR for Digital Health.
