KIU Western Campus Lango Students Association to Hold Medical Camp in Lira District

KIU, Western Campus – The Lango Students Association at KIU Western Campus is planning to hold a medical camp at Ogur Health Center IV in Lira District from July 8th to 12th, 2024.

According to Tony Omara, a fourth-year Pharmacy student who is one of the organizers of the camp, they are doing this to give back to the community and improve their skills.

“This is the second time we are holding a medical camp of this kind and we are doing this to give back to our community. It is also an opportunity for us to improve our skills,” he said.

“We also want to thank our parents and sponsors for financing our education and to show them the skills we are learning at university,” he added.

The medical camp will have students, university alumni who are specialists and staff from the hospital screening and treating people with different ailments.

Students from the the KIU Western Campus studying Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Sciences and Radiology will be backed up by the university's alumni who are gynecologists, surgeons and physicians.

The team will offer general consultations, cervical cancer screening, sickle cell disease screening, child health and immunization, maternal health and family planning, HIV/AIDS testing and counselling and health education services.

The camp, which is targeting over 2,000 people, will assist people with tuberculosis, diarrhoea, malaria, sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV and gonorrhoea, respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections and pelvic inflammatory diseases.
