KIU & China University of Petroleum Sign 5-Year Collaboration Agreement

KIU & China University of Petroleum Sign 5-Year Collaboration Agreement

KIU Main Campus – On Monday, December 8th, 2025, Kampala International University (KIU) and the China University of Petroleum (UPC)–East China officially have signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen academic and research collaboration between the two institutions.

Signed at KIU, Main Campus, the partnership aims to advance education, research, and service delivery through a wide range of initiatives, including:

  • Joint research and educational activities
  • Collaborative applications for funding to support academic and research projects
  • Student and staff exchange programs
  • Exchange of publications, academic information, and materials
  • Organization of joint conferences, symposia, workshops, and lectures

The MoU was signed by Prof. Dai Caili, Vice President of UPC–East China, and Dr. Mustafa Mundu, KIU Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance & Administration, representing Prof. Muhammed Ngoma, Vice Chancellor of KIU.

During the ceremony, Dr. Mundu welcomed the delegates and delivered a presentation highlighting KIU’s academic programs, faculties, facilities, student and staff diversity, and the structure of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

"At Kampala International University, we take pride in nurturing excellence through diverse academic programs, world-class facilities, and a vibrant community of students and staff from across the globe. As we welcome our distinguished delegates, we reaffirm our commitment to advancing knowledge, fostering diversity, and building bridges of collaboration for a brighter tomorrow," he said.

In her remarks, Zhang Zhiying, Vice Director of the Office of International Affairs at UPC–East China, showcased the university’s state-of-the-art facilities and diverse academic offerings.

“The university has 1,800 faculties and 131 programs, extending beyond petroleum to include Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geosciences Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physical Chemistry, and Green and Sustainable Science and Technology,” she noted.
