KIU, Main Campus - Ismail Mugerwa beat his opponent, Robert Serunkuma, with 68 votes to win Friday's KIU Education Students Association (KIUESA) Presidential poll. He has been declared President elect as he waits to swear in incase no challenge arrises.
According to results released by the KIUESA Electoral Commission on Saturday 29th January 2021, Ismail Mugerwa gathered 198 votes while Robert Serunkuma had only 130 votes. This result saw Mugerwa declared President elect for KIUESA for the year 2022-2023.
After declaring Mugerwa as President elect, Joseph Mukumbya, the KIUESA Electoral Commission Chairperson, urged him and his supporters to start warming up for the office as they wait for a hand over ceremony whose date is yet to be disclosed. He also reminded him that his opponent still has a chance to challenge the results if they feel dissatisfied.
"You can now start warming up for the supreme office, though there is still room for challenging the results by your opponents," Mukumbya said.
On the other hand, Isaac Wandera won the Vice Presidency race beating Mark Emmanuel while Lawrence Kamya beat Ashraf Ssenyonga to claim the Ministry of Health office.
