KIU, Main Campus - On Wednesday, 10th September 2025, the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor–Finance and Administration, in collaboration with the Directorate of Human Resource, organized an Administrative Staff Orientation Program at Kampala International University (KIU) Main Campus.
Held at the IBM Library on the 5th Floor, the hybrid session brought together administrators from both the Main and Western campuses, fostering cross-campus collaboration and shared institutional purpose.
The orientation was officiated by Prof. Muhammed Ngoma, Vice Chancellor, who emphasized the importance of aligning knowledge with the right attitude to achieve institutional goals.
“It is one thing to have the knowledge and expertise, and another to have the right attitude towards attaining the same goal as an institution,” he said. “Let us continue to work together as a team, drive research output and quality, and create a conducive environment for our learners.”

Ambrose Kibuuka, Council Member and Chairman Board of Trustees Representative, underscored the significance of competency-based education in realizing KIU’s vision of becoming a premier institution of international repute.
“There is no way to achieve a vision if you are not using a competency-based practice,” he noted, advocating for curricula rooted in societal needs to foster inclusive development.
Dr. Mundu Mustafa, Deputy Vice Chancellor–Finance and Administration, stressed the importance of robust internal systems built on sound human resource policies.
“Fairness, accountability, and staff morale are key to building efficient systems. Only with human capital can we achieve institutional stability,” he remarked.

Dr. Anumolu Goparaju and Assoc. Prof. Muhammed Ibrahim Ribah, both from the Directorate of Quality Assurance and Management, highlighted the role of monitoring teaching activities, attendance, examination standards, and infrastructure in maintaining excellence.
“Compliance and functionality across all academic units are essential for achieving common goals,” said Dr. Goparaju.
Dr. Derrick Ssekajugo, Deputy Principal–College of Economics and Management, called for adherence to university structures and proper communication channels.
“Respect protocol and understand your reporting lines. Clear communication is a key driver of institutional success,” he advised.

Christine Ainebyoona, Deputy University Secretary/Campus Administrator (Main Campus), concluded the session by highlighting the importance of mental well-being.
“If you’ve been entrusted with an office, take responsibility and maintain good mental health. A positive mindset is key to executing all good work practices,” she affirmed.
The orientation served not only as a refresher but as a strategic reaffirmation of KIU’s commitment to excellence, inclusivity, and societal relevance. Through shared values and collaborative effort, the university continues to empower its administrative staff to drive meaningful change.
