KIU Student Bags Gold Medal for Uganda at East Africa Karate Championships

KIU, Main Campus - Kampala International University (KIU) has once again demonstrated its growing influence in the digital and academic landscape, following the release of the January 2026 Webometrics Global Ranking of Universities. KIU maintained its position as Uganda’s leading private university and the second‑best university nationally, coming only after Makerere University.
The latest results also placed KIU among the region’s most competitive institutions. In East Africa, KIU secured the 5th position, following Makerere University, the University of Nairobi, the University of Dar es Salaam, and Kenyatta University. This ranking reinforces KIU’s standing as a key player in East Africa’s higher education ecosystem.
Webometrics, the world’s largest academic ranking system, evaluates universities using a multidimensional approach that reflects both academic excellence and digital influence.
The university’s continued rise reflects sustained investment in digital infrastructure, research capacity, and strategic communication - factors that have become increasingly essential in the global knowledge economy.
