KIU, Main Campus - The COVID-19 vaccination exercise has today 28th, June resumed in Kampala in Rubaga Division, Makindye Division, Kawempe Division, Central Division and Nakawa Division at various stations pointed out by the Ministry of Health and will be conducted by KCCA and UPDF health workers.

The vaccination comes after National Medical Stores(NMS) dispatched 117,520 doses to 135 districts during the distribution exercise over the weekend.

Each division will have 8 vaccination centers within a walking distance since public and private means of transport were suspended for 42 except for a few essential workers.

Groups that will be immunized are all those who have reached 12 weeks since receiving their 1st dose of the vaccine and health workers.

The Ministry of Health also announced that due to the current lockdown, District Health Officers will ensure that all eligible persons are reached and vaccinated.

"Other vaccines are expected before the end of July 2021," the Ministry announced further.

With guidance from the Ministry of Health, the vaccination process will continue to be carried out in other parts of the country since the exercise will also resume in Wakiso district on Tuesday, 29th June 2021.

All the efforts are aimed at containing the pandemic so as to ensure health stability in the country as the Ministry of Health continues to deliver essential health services to Ugandans.

"Through guidance provided by Government of Uganda, we have ensured that the pandemic is contained without stopping delivery of essential services," stated Health Minister Jane Ruth Aceng yesterday, during the World Health Summit Africa at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
