Explorer Of The Day: Muftau Yinusa Uche, KIU's Best This Season

KIU, Main Campus - KIU’s most in-form midfielder in this season's University football league has a wonderful story about football. From winning a scholarship, to pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from KIU, and to visiting many places around the world, Muftau Yinusa Uche, has a pinnacle of success created by his talent.

Born on 28th, April 1995 in Nigeria, Uche started playing football out of passion right from childhood. He has played soccer at elementary, secondary, and university levels. Yinusa joined KIU in August 2016 and was immediately called up to the University soccer team which won him a scholarship that is still functional until he graduates. In the same year, Yinusa also joined the University Beach Soccer Team and is still a member. 

Apart from possessing an unstoppable combination of speed and power, Yinusa is an agile, intelligent, accurate ball passer and prolific goal scorer who always keeps opposition defenders and fellow midfielders at bay and is always versatile in front of goal.

“Football is my life and always brings a different feeling every day,” says Yinusa.

He adds that football has moved him places where he has been able to create amazing friends and life-long memories.

“I have moved to many places like Russia, Benin, Ghana, Rwanda and currently Uganda because of one thing, football, “ Yinusa narrates, “This has created for me memories and amazing friends.”

Added to Yinusa's sporting aura is his tremendous love for success that prompts him to work hard to achieve both academically and in soccer. 

Since joining KIU soccer side, the Nigerian-born midfielder has led the team to a number of milestones among which includes leading the Beach Soccer Team to the second position in the 2019 National Beach Soccer Championship.

Yinusa is looking forward to joining club football where he can tread the path of his lifetime idols Yaya Toure and former Arsenal captain and French football legend, Thierry Henry, when he completes his degree.
