KIU, Main Campus-KIU Rangers clinched the first runners-up spot in the 2023 Women's National Basketball League (WNBL), facing a 68-50 defeat against JKL Lady Dolphins in game five on Sunday.

Despite it being their inaugural finals appearance, KIU Rangers demonstrated resilience throughout the best-of-seven series, concluding with a 4-1 concession to the JKL Lady Dolphins.

Recognizing the team's remarkable season, three standout players earned individual accolades, securing spots in the season's best five.

Team Captain Ninette Uwineza claimed the title of the best point guard, Perus Nyamwenge as the best shooting guard, and Mary Moses Amaniyo was honored as the best forward of the season.

A statement on the team's website emphasized the collective effort behind these individual successes, stating, "It's crucial to recognize that the success of these individuals reflects the collective effort of every Rangers player, coach, and stakeholder. Our achievements this season are the result of a united front from the entire KIU Rangers community."

Securing the second position marks a significant milestone for the Rangers, especially considering their history of finishing in the semifinals.

Looking ahead, the team now sets its sights on returning stronger for the upcoming season in January, aiming to build on their achievements.
