What Transpired at KIU Western Campus Medical Dinner

KIU, Western Campus – The Association of Medical Students of Kampala International University (AMSKIU) on February 19 organized the AMSKIU Medical Dinner, which they held at Meridian Hotel in Bushenyi Town.

Despite the high anticipation among the medical fraternity, the event did not live up to expectations, most probably because of the low turn up.

The program lineup itself did not scream ‘dinner’ as it turned out to be a more formal event, with too many speeches and more administrator involvement rather than student involvement.

For example, there were four speeches made at the dinner, which is really not called for at such an informal and more social rather than official event.

Nevertheless, the aim of the dinner was achieved, in line with the theme – “Mentorship and Social Accountability”

There were also some interesting tit-bits like the Mr. and Miss Medicine contest (which should have been a different event altogether), the cake was gorgeous and the food delicious.

AMSKIU invited guests from other universities like Kabale and Mbarara Universities, which was a good show of unity.

The guest of honour was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of KIU Western Campus, Prof. Frank Mugisha Kaharuza, who gave out certificates of appreciation.

All in all, at the end of the day, AMSKIU achieved their main goal – organizing this year’s Medical Dinner, though more needs to be done next year.
