KIU, Western Campus – Eight of the ten female students selected from Kampala International University (KIU), Western Campus participated in the Academy for Impact Women Mentorship Initiative (AWMI) training on July 13th, 2026, at the Capital Solutions Training Hub in Kajjansi, Kampala.

Organised by Capital Solutions Limited (Ltd) in partnership with Siemens Stiftung, the training was conducted as part of the implementation of the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between KIU and Capital Solutions Ltd. It forms part of a nine-month mentorship and entrepreneurship programme that commenced in June 2026 and aims to equip young women with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed to develop innovative enterprises, attract strategic investment, and create sustainable impact within their communities.

During the training, the participants strengthened their understanding of investment readiness, entrepreneurship, and enterprise development, while gaining practical insights into designing, implementing, and managing impactful business and social enterprise projects. The sessions also exposed the students to practical approaches for developing viable business ideas and preparing them for long-term growth and sustainability.

Beyond the technical sessions, the training provided a platform for experience sharing and networking, enabling the students to interact with facilitators and fellow participants, exchange ideas, and build valuable professional relationships. To promote continued collaboration and peer learning throughout the programme, the KIU participants established a dedicated WhatsApp group for the Western Campus cohort.

The nine-month mentorship programme will culminate in the development and presentation of enterprise projects by the participants. The ten best-designed projects will receive substantial start-up capital to support their implementation, enabling the participants to transform innovative ideas into sustainable ventures with meaningful social and economic impact.

The training reflects Capital Solutions Ltd’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of women entrepreneurs through meaningful collaboration with higher education institutions. It also reinforces KIU’s commitment to complementing classroom learning with practical entrepreneurial training, mentorship, and industry engagement that prepare students to become innovators, job creators, and leaders in enterprise development.
