KIU, Western Campus – Amon Nkwasibwe has been voted the new Association of Medical Students of KIU (AMSKIU) President for the term 2023/2024.

Nkwasiibwe (in the picture) garnered 326 votes to beat Faizo Muwanga, who could only get 266 in a hardly contested election at the basketball court on February 1, in results released by the Chairperson of the Electoral Committee, Edward Twesigye.

Nkwasibwe succeeds Moses Kambale and he says he is very grateful for the opportunity his colleagues have given him to lead AMSKIU and he has promised to do his best to serve the association.

“This new role comes along with a lot of responsibilities and duties that ought to be executed for the better livelihood and academics of our medical students at the Exploration of Heights University,” Nkwasibwe told this website.

“I intend to mitigate mental health issues amongst our students and engage them in as many co-curricular activities as possible,” he added.

In other polls, Mable Marian Tuhirirwe defeated Joyce Hilda Naluwemba in the Vice-President race with 338 to 258 votes.

Davis Ruteraho is the new General Secretary after defeating Kugonza Kyomuhendo by 358 to 189 votes whereas Lindah Ainembabazi got 365 votes to beat Elaine Jemimah Asaba who got 191 votes, to become the new Treasurer.

Henrick Abigaba went toe-to-toe with Emmanuel Muhumuza but came out on top with 304 against 260 votes to become the new Chief Editor, and Joshua Aijuka was unopposed for the post of Public Relations Officer.

We wish the new Cabinet all the best in their tenure.
