KIU, Main Campus – While addressing the nation on Wednesday night, 08th April, 2020, President Yoweri Museveni issued a new directive, that no boda-bodas are to be seen on the roads after 2:00 P.M.
During his national address, the President emphasized that motorcycles (boda-bodas) are only for delivering cargo and not carrying passengers in respect to the set lockdown guidelines.
Further, the President also stressed that, " there should be no exercising in public."
Since several people had adopted jogging and exercising as a way to blow off some steam during the lockdown, the President banned the practice as it poses danger to many lives.
Instead, he encouraged the people to exercise from home.
"Exercise in your compound or in your room. Tomorrow, I will capture a video of how you can exercise in your room," the President said.
All the measures, are in a bid to stamp out Coronavirus since the country is showing progress. Out of the 214 samples that were ran on Wednesday, only one person tested positive for COVID-19 bringing the total number of cases to 53.
This is an indicator that the virus can be beaten if we work together and follow the guidelines issued by Ministry of Health and the President.
