COVID-19 Updates: Uganda Registers 4 new COVID -19 Cases

KIU, Main Campus – The Ministry of Health has today, July 13 announced 4 new COVID-19 cases from the 1,702 samples tested on July 12, bringing the total number of cases in Uganda to 1,029 so far.

According to Dr. Henry Mwebesa, the Director General of Health Services at the Ministry of Health, of the 4 confirmed cases, 2 are truck drivers and 2 are alerts from Amuru and Isingiro districts.

One truck driver arrived via Kilwa point of entry in Yumbe district from Kenya while the other arrived from DR Congo via Mpondwe point of entry in Kasese district.

Dr. Mwebesa revealed that 18 foreign truck drivers from Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda and DR Congo tested positive at the border entry points and their entry into Uganda was not permitted.

To-date, Uganda has registered a total of 977 recoveries including Ugandans and non Ugandans with no COVID-19 related death out the 228,105 total samples tested.
