COVID-19 Updates: Uganda Registers Decline In New COVID-19 Infections

KIU, Main Campus - Uganda has continued to report a decline in its new daily COVID-19 infections, weeks after the pandemic situation in the country hit its peak.

According to the Health Ministry statistics, on Wednesday 12th January, 2022 the country reported 670 new COVID-19 infections, taking the country’s total number of cases to 156,046.

The latest data also indicated nine new deaths, taking the country’s total number of virus-related fatalities to 3,370.

The government has rolled out a nationwide vaccination exercise in a bid to contain the further spread of the Coronavirus.

As of Wednesday, the total number of vaccine doses administered stood at 12,220,106. The country has also allowed booster jabs for elderly persons that are above 65 years.
