COVID-19 Updates: Uganda's COVID-19 Cases Surpass 600

KIU, Main Campus c��?? Today June 8, the Ministry of Health has released the latest results of COVID-19 tests, confirming 30 new cases.�

"Results from samples tested on 07 June 2020 confirm 30 new COVID-19 cases. The total confirmed cases are now 646," tweeted the Ministry of Health.�

Four of the confirmed cases are truck drivers who arrived from South Sudan via Elegu Point of Entry, one is a truck driver who arrived from Kenya via Busia Point of Entry, three are security personnel from Luweero district and four are frontline health workers.�

Eighteen are contacts to previously confirmed cases. They include 4 from Amuru, 3 from Tororo, 3 from Buikwe, 2 from Kyankwanzi, 2 from Arua, 1 from Buliisa, 1 from Wakiso, 1 from Kisoro, and 1 from Kampala.�

In addition, the ministry says 51 foreign truck drivers (43 Kenyans, 4 Tanzanians, 3 Burundians, and 1 Eritreans) tested positive for COVID-19 and were handed over to their respective countries of origin.�

According to a press release by the ministry, Uganda has 103 COVID-19 recoveries and no COVID-19 related deaths recorded.�
