KIU, Western Campus – Officials from the ministries of Education and Health are reportedly at an impasse over when medical schools should be reopened, according to Daily Monitor.

The newspaper quoted sources who said government officials in a meeting convened by education minister Janet Museveni to discuss the issue, agreed that the planned reopening of medical schools should be deferred to allow more time for inspection.

The officials also reportedly warned that any attempts to rush the reopening might open floodgates for infections and in worst-case scenario, death of some students.

Consequently, according to Daily Monitor, the officials agreed to schedule another meeting where they would agree on how to inspect the medical schools over readiness to reopen and also discuss other issues like vaccination of students and teachers.
