KIU, Main Campus- Ivan Kazoora has been elected as speaker of the 18th KIU Guild Union Parliament and will succeed Angella Mbabazi who has been in office since December 2020.
Kazoora defeated Godfrey Agaba and Birungi Shamila in Tuesday's vote to claim the Guild Parliament's topmost seat. He is also a member of parliament representing the school of mathematics and computing.
"I feel very happy in the first place having achieved my goal. I think it will help me improve and expose my leadership skills," Kazoora said.
"I feel happy that I am set to serve the entire student body at this unique institution," he added.
He has pledged to fulfill the Guild Union mandate of uniting the student Community as well as creating unity beyond ideological convictions amongst the students' legislature.
"I will also make sure student's concerns are well represented and deliberated upon in Parliament and the administration," he said.
With the outgoing Guild Union team leaving behind lamentations of COVID-19 lockdown and other consequences that limited their operation and plans on a large scale, Kazoora is looking to turn everything around like never before when he finally gets to the office.
