KIU, Main Campus -The mass communication students of Kampala International University have intensified training ahead of the highly anticipated radio participatory competitions scheduled for 18th-20th October 2023 organized by the Media Challenge Initiative.

According to Isaac Akugizibwe, one of the trainers, the team is putting different pieces together as they look to retain the championship victory as they did last year.

"The competition is always very tight but we shall do our best to make sure that we scoop as many awards as possible to retain the championship title".

Having emerged overall winners at the last competitions with eight awards that also saw five students qualify for the media challenge fellowship program, the team is brimming for more this time round.

However, the team is optimistic and enthusiastic that they will produce the best radio show which is the main qualifier to the grand National Newsroom Contest.

Nicole Munezero a third-year student says the show they are working on will captivate the judges and is very confident, they can bag more awards from this year's contest where they will find stiff competition from teams from other Universities.

"We are practicing hard so that we win more awards in both Luganda and English since we are aware other universities like Makerere and UCU are planning against us," she said.

The practice that lasts three hours every evening is rotating on news anchoring, reporting and radio production.
