KIU, Main Campus – The Acting Chief Executive Officer of Ugandan Airlines, Jenifer Bamuturaki, has been appointed the substantive head of the country’s national career, State-owned media New Vision has reported.

A letter from the works and transport minister, Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala, to the chairperson of the Uganda Airlines board infers that the directive to appoint Bamuturaki came from President Yoweri Museveni.

The airline advertised the CEO position on June 24, 2022,  three days after the Inspectorate of Government charged former CEO Cornwell Muleyi for disobeying the Inspectorate’s orders.

Cornwell had been sent on forced leave in April 2021 amidst accusations of causing financial loss to the airline. He was later suspended in May 2021 alongside other officers.

Since then, Bamuturaki has been the acting CEO, during which period, the national carrier has registered significant milestones.
