KIU Business Desk: KCCA Bans Boda-Bodas From Central Business District

KIU, Main Campus - As Boda-Bodas resume work today, 27th July 2020, they will not follow their normal routes in Kampala after the Minister of Kampala, Betty Amongi, announced that Cabinet had approved a Bodaboda Free Zone where all Boda-Bodas are prohibited from entering. 

The Bodaboda Free Zone will run along the following boundaries; Wampewo Roundabout- Jinja Road to Kitgum House junction câ¬â€œ Access Road,  Mukwano Road to Clock Tower câ¬â€œKafumbe Mukasa Road, Kisenyi Road câ¬â€œMackay Road to Kyaggwe Road- Watoto Church, Bombo Road câ¬â€œ Wandegeya to Hajji Musa Kasule Road- Mulago roundabout, Kamwokya junction câ¬â€œ Sturrock Road to Prince Charles Drive- Lugogo Bypass and Jinja Road to Wampewo Roundabout. 

While addressing the media on Saturday, the minister said that câ¬Å“KCCA is procuring Boda Boda stage signs to mark the gazetted stages permanently and traffic signs to demarcate the Boda-Boda free zone as approved by Cabinet. All Boda-Boda operators must comply with all the directives and strictly follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as issued by Government.c⬝

Registration of a Boda-Boda at any gazetted stage is free of charge and no one will be required to pay.
