KIU Deputy Chief Librarian Tells New students to Fully Utilize University Library

KIU, Main Campus - Jackline Kiwelu Estomihi Mayende, the Deputy Chief University Librarian has urged students to embrace the library to better their academic excellence at KIU.Speaking during the library orientation of January 2021 students held in the library today, Tuesday, March 2nd, 2021. She said the Iddi Basajjabalaba Memorial Library has all it takes to make one excel both academically and intellectually.

The library orientation that began at 9:00 marks the second and last day of Orientation of January 2021 intake students at KIU.Students have been introduced to the rules and regulations of the library as well as the different departments therein. The first and main orientation session which fully initiated the new student into university life took place on Monday, March 1, 2021 in the university main hall. All students who took an oath of allegiance to the university rules and regulations were urged to mind their safety while at campus by the vice-chancellor, Dr. Mouhammad Mpezamihigo.

During her speech, Mayende called upon students to use the library to interact with the world-class learning materials in order to master the art of academic excellence. She stressed that having a fully stocked high standard library like the Iddi Basajjabala Memorial Library (IBML) is a rare opportunity.

câ¬Ë?câ¬â?cA library is a very important institution in KIU. You learners have to interact with our high-class learning materials in order to excel. Remember it is a rare opportunity to have a library like ours just like it is to be at KIU, so please use it to excel academically, " Mayende said.

She also urged students to reconsider the struggles their parents have gone through to send them to university instead of getting lost in the exciting university life.

câ¬Ë?câ¬â?cKindly mind about where you are coming from and remember we are in the hardest situations of life due to COVID-19. Your parents have really struggled to send you here, you must not disappoint them, use the available materials effectively so that you can make them proud" she advised.

Orientation of Students is a customary activity organized by the University administration through the office of studentcâ¬â?cs affairs at the beginning of every intake in order to officially welcome, guide and initiate students into the University.
