KIU, Western Campus – Dr Hafidh Mohammed Ali, the KIU doctor who succumbed to Ebola Disease on Saturday was buried in Fort-Portal yesterday.

Dr. Ali, who was attached as a Senior House Officer (SHO) to Mubende Regional Referral Hospital was pursuing a Master’s degree in Surgery at the time of his death.

He contracted Ebola a little over a week ago while operating on a patient and was transferred to Fort-Portal Regional Referral Hospital for management.

He was complaining of fever and mild headache and he was first managed with anti-malarials initially but his condition quickly escalated leading to his demise.

Dr. Ali, who hails from Zanzibar, could not be taken back to his country for burial because of the fear that transporting the body could lead to the spread of the virus.

At the time of his death, he had just finished presenting his research proposal and was awaiting to be given the green light to graduate and become a specialist.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
