KIU Main Campus – Kampala International University has been drawn against Ggaba road neighbours, Kampala University (KU), in Group D of the 2024 University Football League, which is set to kick off on Tuesday, September 17th.

The group stage draws, held on Thursday, September 5th, 2024, at Kati Kati Restaurant in Lugogo, divided the 23 participating teams into six groups.

KIU’s Group D also includes Gulu University and Bugema University, while reigning champions Nkumba University are in Group A alongside Busitema University, Islamic University in Uganda, and ISBAT University.

Makerere University has been placed in Group B with Kumi University, Ndejje University, and Victoria University.

Group C consists of Uganda Christian University, Kabale University, St. Lawrence University, and YMCA.

Group E features Uganda Martyrs University, Muni University, International University of East Africa, and the University of Kisubi. Muteesa I Royal University, making their debut in the league, are in Group F alongside Makerere University Business School and Mbarara University of Science and Technology.

Uganda Christian University will host the opening game on September 17th against an as-yet unidentified opponent in Group C.

Nkumba University, who were initially set to host the opener, will be participating in the Africa University Championships in Lagos.

KIU will aim to progress to the knockout stages this time after falling short in the 2023/2024 season.
