KIU, Main Campus-KIU Titans beat Power basketball club 68-59 in their first game of the best of three series, a result that gives them the advantage to proceed heading into the second game on Sunday.
Despite a low tempo but highly contested first half the game produced sparks of a clash of real Titans with a great improvement in pace, tempo and intensity with KIU needing a point to prove having fallen 24-25 at halftime despite winning the first quarter 16-13.
With 19 points to his name, Isaiah Mabeny Ater took matters into his hands and caused problems for Power scoring five threes that eventually inspired KIU Titans to a well-deserved but also highly needed Victory.
While talking in a post-game interview Isaiah said that he was impressed by how they performed and promised to keep the candle burning until the last man is down.
"We gave them a lot of turnovers, had some unavoidable mistakes that could on another day have cost us but in game two, we need to do better, he said.
"We have to win game two as well, that's the only thing we have to do on Sunday," he added.
Henry Okoth with 15 points and Fidel Okoth Odour at 11 were the other Titans who scored in double figures.
Credit must also go to the KIU Titans fans who turned up in big numbers to cheer their team with absolute passion.
