KIU, Main Campus - The Uganda People's Defense Force (UPDF) has vowed to protect Ugandans through robust reinforced deployment, a measure intended to protect citizens together with their property and infrastructure.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, the UPDF Deputy Spokesperson Let. Col Deo Akiiki said that the army will respond and react quickly to any criminal incidents.

"All roads heading into the city shall jointly be manned as outside forces provide security to all highways to ensure normal flow of traffic," he added to say.

With the above measures, UPDF hopes to disband any criminal acts amidst the riots that broke out on Wednesday last week in Kampala and the neighboring towns regarding the arrest of the National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine in Luuka district.
