KIU, Main Campus- KIU journalism Students are hopeful of victory in today's National Newsroom Contest (NNC) finals currently underway at the Media Challenge Initiative Hub in Kabalagala. KIU is represented by over 25 students with each playing a role in the race against time to produce a news bulletin.
Six Universities qualified for the finals following a new format of the contest that began in October with a radio production contest where a total of 12 Universities participated. KIU progressed to today's final with an excellent performance that left revelers in awe.
"We are the winning team, this is ours to lose," said Deborah Akunyo, one of the participants.
Team KIU like several of their competitors had to race against time yesterday to beat the deadline for submitting their stories. The journalists in making spent the whole of yesterday editing and arranging the stories that will be played today.
Motivated by the magnificent performance in the first round, the team started rehearsing in October and there is hope they will bring the crown home.
Today's contest will be preceded by the Awards night at a later date where the best individuals and teams shall be awarded accordingly.
