On Thursday, November 2nd, 2023, Kampala International University (KIU) hosted a delegation from the University of South Africa (UNISA) to explore potential areas of collaboration in mutually interesting academic fields. The discussions aimed to formalize co-supervision of postgraduate students and establish joint supervision agreements. Additionally, both institutions sought to develop various collaborative activities on a foundation of equality and reciprocity, among other objectives.
KIU team was led by Professor Mouhamad Mpezamihigo, the Vice Chancellor. He was accompanied by Assoc Prof. Desire Busingye, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration, Dr. Sophia Kazibwe, the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mundu Mustapha, Assistant Vice Chancellor of KIU Western Campus, and several other Directors, heads of departments, and Principals representing both the main and western campuses.
The UNISA delegation was headed by Professor T. Mgutshini, the Executive Dean of the College of Graduate Studies. During the visit, the UNISA team had the opportunity to tour the KIU campus, gaining insights into its facilities and infrastructure. Additionally, they visited the KIU Centre of Excellence for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, a pivotal gateway through which the university channels its innovative initiatives into society and industry.
The meeting between KIU and UNISA marked the beginning of a promising partnership, fostering academic collaboration and mutual growth in various fields of interest.
