KIU Journalism Department Holds Multimedia Workshop

KIU, MAIN CAMPUS- On Friday, September 8, 2023, the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at Kampala International University organized a multimedia workshop aimed at equipping journalism lecturers with current digital media skills, empowering them for the future.

The training was facilitated by Ultimate Multimedia Consults an organization of communicators who share joint interests in coming together to form a platform where skills and Knowledge are applied to offer dependable, quality multimedia services and products to the public.

Speaking to the Journalism and Media Studies Head of Department, Maureen Komugisha during an interview, she revealed that through the intense training sessions at the workshop, lecturers in her department will walk away with essential skills that they will later pass on to their students.

"Training our lecturers in the Department of Journalism and Media Studies will empower them with digital and multimedia skills which isn't just about adapting to the changing media landscape, but also equipping them with essential knowledge that they will pass on to our students," she said.

This training comes days after the university alongside the Media Challenge Initiative organized newsroom auditions where journalism and mass-communication students took part in various activities ranging from news anchoring to live news reporting.

All these efforts by the university and Department of Journalism and Media Studies are to ensure that students acquire the best skills relevant to the available job market or even so, to enable studentsto  create jobs in the competitive journalism and mass-communication sector.
