KIU, Main Campus – Kampala International University fourth-year School of Law students used the 2021 edition of their law dinner to not only wine and dine, but to also receive invaluable advice and tips from their lecturers.

The dinner, which was held at International Hotel, Muyenga on Sunday, May 9, was graced by Mohamoud Ssewaya, a lecturer at the School of Law since 2002, who was also the guest of honour.

Ssewaya thanked the School of Law for organizing the dinner and he advised the students to use the knowledge they have acquired at the school to succeed regardless of whether they practice law in the future or not.

“You can qualify to be a lawyer and you may not practice law, but the knowledge you have acquired will help you succeed. Be patient enough, prepare your CV and application for jobs because it's the starting point,” he said.

He also advised them to embrace technology for networking purposes and looking for job opportunities, reminding them to exploit the existing KIU network, revealing that KIU Law School has produced over 20 magistrates.

The Dean School of Law, Valentine Tebi Mbeli urged prospective graduates to get well versed with technology and take responsibility in whatever they do.

The colourful dinner was also graced by, among others, Flavia Nakamatte, the Head of Department (HOD) Law School, school patron Dr Rogers Barigayomwe and the President of the KIU Law Society, Moses Osiya.
