KIU law students to deliberate on Child assault in today's Criminal moot

By Isaac Akugizibwe

KIU Main Campus-Lawyers in the third-year first semester will this afternoon deliberate on a criminal matter involving a mother seen beating her own child in a video that recently went viral on social media.

As stated; In the High Court of Uganda Sitting at Kampala International University: Uganda Vs Kisa Mariam, Criminal Case No. 1 of 2022,"  this mock trial will involve both respondents and defendants.

This means that the class of 80 students will be divided into defendants, respondents, judges, court clerks, and right-thinking members of the general public.

Mariam Kisa is the replica of the lady who beat her own child in the video that went viral on social media recently causing an uproar from many Ugandans.

Moots or Court mock trials are practiced by law Students at KIU to depict real court situations. It is a platform through which Students are exposed to how business runs in court sessions as they attain skills of handling cases in courts of law.
