KIU Main Campus-KIU Rangers have displaced UCU Lady Canons from the summit of the Uganda National Basketball league following their 66-70 win over Ndejje Angels in overtime on Friday.
The highly heated match was tied at 63:63 at the hour mark and Iooked headed for the first draw of the season but all that changed in five minutes of overtime when the Rangers added seven points, four more than what the Angels could afford to add on theirs.
Ninette Uwineza put up yet another formidable performance, scoring 16 points,10 rebounds, and making five assists which proved enough to earn her a second successive Tuskerlite player of the game award in one of the season's most competitive encounters so far.
The result saw KIU Rangers topple UCU Lady Canons at the top of the table with 15 points. UCU is now third though they have 14 points like third-placed Canons with the only difference being that the Mukono based franchise has lost two games. JKL Dolphins are the only team that is yet to lose a match this season and have played only seven games, one less than their counterparts.
The men's team, the KIU Titans lost to Namuwongo Blazers on the same evening in yet another heated encounter at the MTN Arena.
