KIU Rangers are striving to uphold their perfect start to the 2024 National Basket League season as they prepare to take on the Magic Stormers on the evening of Wednesday, February 7th, 2024, at the Lugogo Indoor Arena. The game will tip off at 7:00 PM local time.
The Rangers come into today's game with great momentum, especially after winning the opening game against JT Lady Jaguars. Julius Lutwama's team has also been boosted by the return of team captain Ines Kanyamuneza.
"The mood in our camp is exciting because we're trying to create chemistry in the team and we hope we will get there very soon," Lutwama said in a Pre-game interview on Tuesday.
"Playing Magic Stormers is tough, they're unpredictable and they have a good tactical coach but we'll give it our best and play our game just like we played them last season," he added.
"I also welcome back Ines, she still needs a bit more time to get to her best but so far so good."
The Rangers will hope to continue their dominance over the Stormers and they will need to reminisce last season's performance of two wins against the Magic Stormers, winning 61-37 in the first round and 63-59 in the second round
KIU Rangers new captain, Ines Kanyamuneza who is returning from an off-season break said she's very happy to be back in the team though with a bigger responsibility.
"I am so glad to be back in the team for the new season, as captain, I hope to lead the team on and off the court to achieve the desired goal of winning games," she said.
"As for the Magic Stormers, we respect them for their fighting spirit but we won't give up, we're going to work hard from the start to the end and I know we are going to do better," she added.
It will be full house for Julius Lutwama since there is no injury reported but the Rangers' tactician will bank on the ever-green Mary Moses Amaniyo, Sharon Kirabo, Ines Kanyamuneza as well the improved Fildauce Nalumuleme if he's to overcome the stubborn Magic Stormers.
