KIU, Main Campus-KIU Rangers beat JT Lady Jaguars 58-53 in a closely contested NBL encounter at the YMCA court in Wandegeya on Wednesday evening.

The Rangers win was heavily inspired by dynamic guard Diana Letaru scored 16 points, nine rebounds and four steals before being named Player of the Game for the second time in a row.

"I am very happy for this win. The game wasn't an easy one for us, JT Jaguars is a strong team, we really gave our best and we were able to win. Thanks to my teammates and the coach for the effort," Letaru said in a post-game interview.

Fildauce Namuleme stole the show with her scintillating performance including three rare three-pointers that saw her finish the game with 12 points and three assists.

" I actually train this style which I learnt from a certain player in Egypt," Namuleme disclosed after the game.

In addition to  Diana Letaru and Fildauce Namuleme's contribution, Rangers vice-captain Ines Kanyamunza, was equally impressive, outplaying the Jaguars through each quarter.

KIU Rangers acting head coach, Julius Lutwama rated the team's performance in Wednesday's 58-53 win over newly promoted JT Jaguars at 60 percent.

"I would rate today's performance at 60% because we played better than other games," he said.

Beating table leaders and perhaps the most outstanding team so far this season was a statement the Rangers needed to make to boost confidence and also to prove where they belong in the NBL. For Lutwama, this is also one way to build confidence in everything that is done.

"It is one way to build confidence in the things we do," he said.

Lutwama was asked about the performance of Diana Letaru and Fildauce Namuleme.

"They are great players with the greatest teammates," he said.

The win was the second in a row for KIU Rangers whose next league fixture is against Nabisunsa Girls Basketball Club on Sunday.
