KIU Main Campus-KIU Rangers and KCCA Leopards were supposed to face off on Sunday but FUBA postponed the game to tonight, Wednesday 17th August 2022 and because there is no other reason to stop it, it shall be played tonight at the MTN Arena in Lugogo.
The game was postponed because KCCA'S coach Ali Mavita was on national duty with the junior Gazelles in Madagascar at the Under 17 Afrobasket ball championship.
This encounter is likely to yield a lot of tension as either side look to finish among the top three. Both KIU Rangers and KCCA Leopards have 30 points from 17 games and have both won 13 times and lost only four games but third-placed KIU edges the Kasasiro girls when it comes to points scored. The Rangers have 1132 points put forward while KCCA has 1079.
The postponement of the game on Sunday was in one way or the other a blessing in disguise for Rangers coach Roger Serunyigo whose team had at least four of the regular starters doubtful to take to court. Apart from Fildauce Namuleme who is still recovering, and the rest of the KIU Rangers squad are fit for today's encounter.
The winner in Wednesday's clash will automatically take up third place and the loser will be number four. This means the third team faces Miracle Ravens while the fourth will play Ndejje Angels in the playoffs.
If successful in their first hurdle, the third-placed team will meet the winner between UCU Lady Canons and Magic Stormers in the semifinals.
Perus Nyamwege, Sharon Kirabo, Ines Kanyamuza and Ninette Uwineza have been excellent in both scoring and rebounding for KIU Rangers and indeed all chances of KIU'S victory in tonight's encounter will surely rotate on their exquisite performance.
