KIU, Main Campus- KIU Rangers will this evening, Friday 14th July 2023, lock horns with last season's finalists, JKL lady Dolphins at the YMCA court in Wandegeya as both teams seek to occupy the top positions in the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) table ahead of playoffs at the end of the regular season.

This game is today's early tip-off at 7:00 PM and is expected to be a highly contested encounter as KIU Rangers will also be looking for revenge against a team that they lost to in the first round and the whole of last season.

KIU Rangers head coach, Julius Lutwama confirmed on Thursday that his team is in good shape, spirit, and mood to do what they do best.

"We are coming to play a team that has won the championship more than once with the same players meaning they have mastered the art of competing at that level, so we are playing in respect to that," Lutwama said on Thursday evening.

The Rangers will be boosted by the return of Perus Nyamwenge and Mary Moses Amaniyo who are both fit to make Lutwama's roster tonight if nothing changes. The duo's return brings more confidence and assurance to the team.

Besides Purity Lamara, the rest of the Rangers are available for selection which gives coach Julius Lutwama and his technical bench a variety of options.

American bound, Diana Letaru is one star to watch tonight given the fact that she is KIU Rangers top scorer this season and will be expected to deploy the best of her craft this evening. Ines Kanyamuneza who is yet to rediscover her first-round shooting prowess has another chance to prove her odds.

The girls in green will also bank on Captain Ninette Uwineza who celebrated another year on Wednesday. She will need to end her birthday week with a smile while the team's second-leading scorer, Sharon Kirabo is another piece to bank on tonight.

Victory will take KIU Rangers' record to 11-3 and 10 wins in a row. This will also leave the team in the top positions as the battle for supremacy in the WNBL table ensues ahead of the playoffs.

It should be noted that KIU Rangers vs Magic Stormers game meant to be played on Sunday has been postponed until further notice.
