KIU Holds Orientation for August Intake Postgraduate Students

KIU, Western Campus - In a groundbreaking effort to address pressing healthcare challenges, Kampala International University Teaching Hospital and Research (KIU-THR) has partnered with the Association of Surgeons of Uganda and the Ministry of Health to launch the Uganda National Free Surgical Camp.
The week-long initiative, running from September 21-27, aims to provide critical surgical care to thousands in the Western Region, bridging the gap in access to specialized services, and addressing severe surgeon shortages, and inadequate medical resources and infrastructure.
"We are proud to give back to the community," emphasized Dr. Umi Omar Bunu, CEO of KIU-THR. "Our hospital's mission is to deliver exceptional healthcare, and this initiative embodies that commitment."

As a leading healthcare provider, KIU-THR will also serve as a recipient facility for ICU care and complications arising from surgeries at other participating facilities.

With over 25 patients already admitted, screened, and ready for surgery, the Uganda National Free Surgical Camp is poised to make a significant impact. Thousands will benefit from relief from debilitating health conditions, improved quality of life, and enhanced economic productivity.
This initiative demonstrates KIU-THR's commitment to community service and its capacity to lead large-scale healthcare initiatives.
