KIU, Western Campus – KIU Teaching Hospital has received 200 doses of COVID-19 vaccines from Bushenyi District, comprised of 100 doses of Moderna and 100 doses of Pfizer Vaccine.

The vaccines were delivered to the hospital by the District Health Officer for Bushenyi District, Dr. Edward Mwesigye.

This follows KIU Teaching Hospital receiving permission from the district to carry out on-site COVID-19 vaccination to help completely stamp out the virus from the district.

Dr. Charlotte Aguti, the Deputy Director KIU Teaching Hospital said that it is a big plus that KIU Teaching Hospital has been allowed to vaccinate people against the killer virus.

”It’s a good collaboration with the district because previously, upcountry health facilities were not allowed to vaccinate because of manpower constraints,” Dr. Aguti said.

She also said that the Hospital had put up notices for people to come and get vaccinated and the exercise is going onsmoothly.

“We have put up notices within the hospital for people to come and get vaccinated and the uptake so far is good with over 80% of the staff getting their first dose of the vaccine,” she added.
